Cancellations & refunds

How to cancel, what happens to a deposit, and who to chase when money is involved.

Last updated 5 October 2026

Start here

hairDose never takes your money, so hairDose cannot refund it. You pay the venue directly — UPI, a payment link, or in person. Anything you paid them, only they can return. What we can do is put it in front of them, and act on the venue if they behave badly.

Cancelling a booking

Open the booking in the app or on the site and cancel it there. It is free, and the venue is notified straight away.

Each venue sets its own cut-off. Many allow self-cancellation up to the appointment; others close it a few hours before, because a slot given up at the last minute is a slot they cannot resell. The cut-off is shown on the booking. Past it, call the venue — their number is on the booking — and most will still cancel for you.

Changing the time works the same way. Reschedule from the booking if the venue allows it; otherwise call them.

Deposits

Some venues ask for a deposit to hold a slot — a flat amount or a share of the service price. That deposit goes to the venue's own account, not to us.

What normally happens, though the venue decides:

  • You cancel in good time — the deposit is usually returned or held as credit.
  • You cancel late, or do not turn up — the venue may keep it. They lost the slot.
  • The venue cancels — the deposit should come back in full.

Ask the venue what their deposit rule is before you pay it. If one is not stated on the listing, tell us and we will get them to state it.

If the venue cancels on you

You are told immediately, and any deposit should be returned in full. We will suggest other venues with a similar slot.

Venues that cancel repeatedly lose visibility in search, and eventually their listing. Tell us when it happens — that signal is how we find them.

If you were unhappy with the service

Talk to the venue first, the same day if you can. A cut that is not what you asked for, a colour that came out wrong — most salons will fix it or take something off the bill if you raise it while you are still there. Once you have left and a week has passed, there is very little anyone can do.

If that goes nowhere, raise a dispute from the booking, or write to support@hairdose.com with the booking, what happened, and photos if they help. We read both sides and take it up with the venue. We can press them, we can remove them, and we can warn other customers by letting your review stand. We cannot compel a refund, because the payment never passed through us.

For anything involving injury, an allergic reaction, or unsafe or inappropriate conduct, write to safety@hairdose.com instead. Those go to a person, not a queue.

Packages, memberships and loyalty

A package or membership you bought from a venue is that venue's product on their terms — how long it lasts, whether it transfers, what happens to unused sessions. Ask them before you buy.

Loyalty points and vouchers earned on hairDose have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for money. If your account is closed, unspent points go with it.

Salon subscriptions

This part is about businesses, not customers. A salon's hairDose subscription is the one thing we do charge for and therefore the one thing we can refund.

Plans run monthly or annually and renew until cancelled. Cancel from the partner dashboard and the plan runs to the end of the period you have paid for; it is not pro-rated. If you were charged after cancelling, or charged twice, write to support@hairdose.com and we will refund it to the original payment method within 5 to 7 working days.

If hairDose is unusable for a sustained period through our own fault, tell us and we will credit the affected time.
