What we collect, why we collect it, who else sees it, and what you can tell us to do with it.

Who this is about
hairDose is a marketplace for grooming appointments. You use it to find salons, spas, barbers, and independent professionals, and to book with them. This policy covers the hairDose website and apps, operated by hairDose.
Salons are separate businesses. When you book, the venue receives your name, phone number, and what you booked, because they need it to serve you. They decide how they handle it under their own obligations. We are not responsible for what a venue does with your details after a booking.
What we collect
To create your account: your phone number, first and last name, and an email address if you give one. A phone number is required because it is how we verify you and how a salon reaches you about an appointment.
When you use the service: the bookings you make, the venues you favourite or follow, the reviews and questions you post, searches you save, loyalty points, and any messages you exchange with a salon.
Optional things you may add: a profile photo, date of birth and anniversary (used only to send a birthday or anniversary reward), photos of your own looks, and hair or skin preferences.
Location and automatic city detection: When you visit hairDose, we may use your internet connection's IP address and approximate geographic information provided by our hosting infrastructure to estimate your city. This helps us show salons, spas, and other grooming businesses that are relevant to your area. Automatic city detection does not require access to your device's GPS location and may be inaccurate, particularly when you use a VPN, proxy, or mobile network.
Precise device location (optional): We only request access to your device's GPS or browser location when you explicitly select the option to find salons near you. If you grant permission, your coordinates are used to search for nearby businesses, calculate distances, and filter results within the selected search radius. The nearby-search feature does not save your precise GPS coordinates as a persistent location preference. You may deny location permission and continue using hairDose normally.
Your city preference: You can manually choose a city at any time. We save your selected city in your browser's local storage so your preference can be remembered on future visits. A manually selected city takes priority over automatic IP-based city detection. You can also reset your selection to use automatic city detection again.
For home visits: the address you give, and emergency contacts if you choose to add them. During a visit, you may share your location so a trusted contact can follow the appointment.
Automatically: device push tokens if you allow notifications, and technical records of requests to our servers — the page or route, the response, and timing — which we use to keep the service working.
What we do not collect
We never take your payment details. Customers pay venues directly, by UPI or a payment link the venue provides. No card or bank details of yours pass through hairDose, because we are not in that payment path at all.
We do not buy personal data about you from anyone else, and we do not sell yours.
Your choices
Four things are yours to decide, and you can change any of them at any time from your profile:
- Offers and reminders — offers from venues you have visited, nudges when you are due a trim, and requests to review a visit. Turning this off never stops booking confirmations, which are part of the service.
- Personal recommendations — using your past visits and favourites to suggest places. Turn it off, and you see what is popular in your city instead.
- Product analytics — usage data that helps us find and fix problems.
- Location — for nearby venues and distances.
We keep a record of what you chose and when, so that neither of us has to rely on memory.
Getting your data, or deleting it
A copy of everything. From your profile, you can download every record we hold that relates to you: bookings, reviews, messages, loyalty history, saved searches, consents, and the rest.
Deleting your account. This removes your personal records. A few things survive in a form that is no longer about you: a booking a salon has already been paid for stays on their books as an anonymous entry, because it is their business record too, and reviews you posted are detached from your name rather than deleted, so the venue's rating is not silently rewritten. Your consent history is kept as evidence of what you agreed to, with the network details stripped out.
You can also ask us to correct something that is wrong, or object to a particular use. Write to privacy@hairdose.com.
Who else sees your data
We use a small number of services to run hairDose. Each sees only what it needs:
- The venue you book with — your name, phone, and the appointment.
- Email and SMS providers — your email address or phone number, to deliver confirmations, reminders, and one-time codes.
- Image hosting — photos you or a venue upload.
- Sign-in providers — if you choose to sign in with Google, Apple, Facebook or Microsoft, they tell us your name and email to identify you.
- Hosting and database providers — they store the data on our behalf.
- Error reporting — when something breaks, we send the fault and where it happened. Email addresses, phone numbers, and access tokens are stripped out first.
Instagram posts on a venue page. Some venues show posts from their Instagram. Those load from Meta, so Meta sees your IP address and may set cookies — which is why nothing loads until you press the button that says so. Leave it alone and Meta learns nothing about your visit.
We will also disclose data where the law requires it, or where it is genuinely necessary to protect someone's safety.
Some of these providers store data outside India. Where that happens, it is because the service is run that way, and we choose providers that commit to protecting it.
How long we keep it
Your account data stays while your account exists. Booking records are kept as long as a venue may need them for their own accounts and tax obligations. Identity documents submitted by independent professionals are deleted ninety days after their application is decided. Support conversations are kept so a later complaint has context.
Children
hairDose is not intended for anyone under 18. If a parent or guardian believes a child has created an account, write to us, and we will remove it.
Contact and complaints
For anything about your data, write to privacy@hairdose.com.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may contact our grievance officer, Gautam Dugar, at grievance@hairdose.com. We reply to grievances within the time the law allows. You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Changes
When we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change affects what you agreed to, we will ask again rather than assume.
